Video Game History Foundation Library

There is a new video game history library.

The Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) Library is operated by the Video Game History Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the history of video games. This is the home for our collections of video game development materials, magazines, artwork, ephemera, and more.

This library is a permanent work in progress. Not all materials are currently cataloged or digitized, and features may change as our library grows. See the Unprocessed Materials tab for an ongoing list of upcoming additions to the catalog.

Visit our Digital Archive portal to access and search our digital materials.

Why do I blog this? I love video games. More the 2d retro ones, than current 3d FPV games. See also here and here.

Geoinformation on a Globe

In 2024 I found following nice little projects putting information on a globe.

The People Map (USA)

A People Map of the US, where city names are replaced by their most Wikipedia’ed resident: people born in, lived in, or connected to a place.

Notable People Map (Whole World)

Notable people using data from Morgane Laouenan et al., the map is showing birthplaces of the most „notable people“ around the world. Data has been processed to show only one person for each unique geographic location with the highest notability rank.

Why do I blog this? I always like innovative forms of visualization which ar enot that easy to realize. Putting stuff on a globe is still not that easy for normal people. So I applaud the possibility to have this stuff beeing thrown on a nice little globe. I also like e.g. miniture earth a lot.
