Back in the early 1980s, Dieter Rams was becoming increasingly concerned by the state of the world around him \u2013 \u201can impenetrable confusion of forms, colors and noises.\u201d Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design?<\/p>\n

As good design cannot be measured in a finite way he set about expressing the ten most important principles for what he considered was good design. (Sometimes they are referred as the \u2018Ten commandments\u2019.) [\u2026]\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ten principles for good design:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Good design is innovative<\/li>\n
  2. Good design makes a product useful <\/li>\n
  3. Good design is aesthetic <\/li>\n
  4. Good design makes a product understandable <\/li>\n
  5. Good design is unobtrusive <\/li>\n
  6. Good design is honest <\/li>\n
  7. Good design is long-lasting <\/li>\n
  8. Good design is thorough down to the last detail <\/li>\n
  9. Good design is environmentally-friendly <\/li>\n
  10. Good design is as little design as possible <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now I am baffled:<\/strong>
    \nLeaving out innovation and aesthetic or even thorough down to the last detail I ask myself…<\/p>\n
